Three Day Weekend

The kids had off from school yesterday so we had a long weekend. The LONG part would be the many times we had to deal with Delaney whining for one reason or another. As she says "No one knows how hard it is to be her". I think she means how hard it is to share the house and Mommy with her siblings when they are not at school, but that story could be a whole blog entry in itself someday.

Anyway we had some fun things happen this weekend. Besides having the usual amount of friends sleepover and hang out with us, Kevin had a late night out at Elmbrook Church with his friends. I guess when they got to the Passinault's a little after midnight he and his buddies stayed up until 2am playing chess. Just what you want to do in the wee hours of the night is play a thinking game. Yikes.

Saturday Connor played in his last volleyball tournament. I think he is a little sad to see the season come to an end, but they did it with a bang, coming in second at the tournament and playing the best that they have all season. It was worth all the games and practices just to see Coach Justine do a happy dance and cartwheel at the victory! You have to know how much she wanted this long awaited victory for the boys to appreciate it. She is a great coach for Connor and we all hope he gets to play for her again next year.

We also went to Kelly's swim banquet on Sunday. Spending time there just confirmed what a great group of people and coaches make up the SWAT swim team. During the banquet the coaches called each child up to give them recognition. It is impressive what the kids accomplish. Kelly's coach commented on her hard work, beautiful stoke, and said "look out, in the next couple years this girl will be a state champion". We'll see....for now we will just try to get in the car and to practice on time and enjoy the fact that she loves it in the water.

To top off the weekend we did a family field trip to the museum (without Delaney who was at preschool; a much needed break for all of us. Sorry Delaney, we do love you). Monday is free for Milwaukee County residents so we splurged on a movie at the IMAX. It was all fun except that our friend Nathan got motion sickness. He had to step out right at the beginning of the presentation when we were stargazing, and nothing on the screen was even moving. I invited him back in for the movie and he enjoyed it as much as he could with his eyes pinched shut.

So despite the March snow storm this weekend it was a great time with friends and family. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah I know....We could ask that Delaney whine less! That would make for an even better weekend.
